AUKUS - A new world of opportunity for technology and industry

AUKUS Forum  

AUKUS is a trilateral security pact between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, announced on 15 September 2021.

  AUKUS is more than just submarines. As a trilateral security pact, it opens a whole new world of innovation and technology opportunities for industry, academia, researchers, government, and defence.  Across the three nations, it supports the growth of businesses–big and small. Not only does the pact see the US and UK help Australia acquire nuclear-powered submarines, it also includes, but isn’t limited to, the three countries cooperating on:

· Quantum technologies

· Advanced cyber

· Artificial intelligence and Autonomy

· Hypersonic and counter-hypersonic capabilities

· Undersea capabilities

· Electronic warfare 

· Information sharing.

 

 This presents significant new market opportunity for manufacturers, innovators, creators and thought leaders from the three AUKUS foundation countries.

A winning partnership through the AUKUS Connect program has supported an innovative technology created in Tamworth, Australia, that has caught the attention of experts and is now poised to revolutionise the water industry.  

Vesi-Water has harnessed proprietary technology, developed through a fruitful collaboration with the University of New South Wales, to harvest fresh water from airborne humidity. This revolutionary process produces fresh water in areas where traditional sources are scarce or non-existent.  

The potential applications of Vesi-Water's technology extend beyond civilian use. Through its involvement with the AUKUS Connect program, Vesi-Water has connected with potential defence partners to deploy this cutting-edge solution for defence applications.
